TURNER, Samuel Alexander

Source: Greencastle Daily Banner 9 April 1945 p3

Samuel Alexander, son of Alex and Ruthie Walden Turner was born March 3, 1863 passed away April 2, 1945 age 82 years and 1 month.  He was united in marriage to Minnie Bell Brann May 16, 1882 who departed this life April 24, 1941.  To this union were born 11 children, six of whom preceded him in death. Those remaining are Mrs. Dave Hall, Mrs. Louis Roberts, Mrs. Raph Randel, Mrs. Chester Elliott and one son, Otho. He suffered a stroke March 18th and being confined to his bed he bore his suffering with love, patience being kind to all. Let us not weep for he has only gone on before, we know it is sad to say farewell but we love this consolation he is at rest.  He leaves to mourn his passing four daughters and one son, five grandchildren, Reba Randel, Marie Craft, Norman Elliott, Corine and Geneva Turner, 3 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.  β€œIn men whom men condemn as ill I find so much of goodness still, In men who men pronounce divine I find so much of sin and blot; I hesitate to draw a line Between the two where God has not.”

Card of Thanks – We want to thank all our friends, neighbors and relatives for their kindness and sympathy shown during the illness and death of our dear father. Especially do we thank Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCurry, Rev. Singhurse, Zella Roach, singers, flower girls, pall bearers, Dr. Gillespie and for the beautiful floral offerings.  Mr. and Mrs. Otho Turner; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hall; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Roberts; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Randel; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Elliott.
